MOROCCO NAMES AFRICA’S LONGEST HIGHWAY DONALD J TRUMP HIGHWAY IN $1 BILLION WESTERN SAHARA TRIBUTE TO US RECOGNITION

Morocco has made history. King Mohammed VI has officially named the 1,055km Tiznit–Dakhla expressway — Africa’s longest highway the “Donald J. Trump Highway,” a $1 billion mega-project stretching deep into the Western Sahara region through Laayoune down to Dakhla.
The gesture is a direct thank-you.

In a letter, King Mohammed VI told President Donald Trump that his 2020 recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara “will forever be etched in the memory of Moroccans.” Trump publicly thanked the monarch on Truth Social, calling the tribute a great honor and saying he hopes to travel the highway himself one day.

Beyond the symbolism, the highway is a strategic corridor  linking Morocco to sub-Saharan Africa, boosting trade, and feeding into Rabat’s Atlantic Initiative connecting landlocked Sahel nations to the coast.

Africa is watching. Diplomacy, infrastructure, and power all colliding on one road.
