Osimhen Confirmed as Barcelona Target to Replace 2026 World Cup Star

Barcelona have identified Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as a leading transfer target as they prepare for the possibility of Ferran Torres leaving the club.

According to a report by owngoalnigeria, the Catalan giants are planning for life without Torres, who has entered the final year of his contract.

Negotiations over a new deal have yet to produce an agreement, while recent comments from the Spain international have further fuelled speculation about his future

Torres, who scored Spain’s winning goal at the just concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup, is attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

He also reportedly unsettled Barcelona’s hierarchy after stating in an interview that his future remains uncertain and insisting the club must demonstrate how much they value him.

With doubts surrounding Torres’ long-term future, Barcelona have begun exploring potential replacements.

According to respected Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero, Osimhen has emerged as one of the club’s top targets.

Romero reports that Barcelona’s interest in the Nigerian forward has intensified, not only because of the uncertainty surrounding Torres but also due to complications in their pursuit of Atlético Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.

Osimhen, who currently plays for Turkish champions Galatasaray, is also said to be on Atlético Madrid’s shortlist should Alvarez secure a move to Barcelona.

Reports indicate that Galatasaray would consider offers in the region of €80 million for the 27-year-old striker.
