President Mamadi Doumbouya left Conakry on Monday for a private family holiday in Greece, a trip that has renewed speculation about his health.

Authorities have described the visit as an annual private break, and no official medical details have been released.

The speculation is not new: shortly after Doumbouya was sworn in as Guinea’s first civilian president in January 2026, questions about his physical fitness first surfaced, and a February trip to an African Union summit in Addis Ababa turned into a three-week absence that drew widespread attention before a presidential adviser confirmed he had used the time for a routine medical check-up.

This time, online speculation has focused on the president’s visible weight loss alongside the timing of the trip, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
