MNANGAGWA FAMILY DRUG SHOCKER! PRESIDENT’S DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IN COURT OVER PETHIDINE, MORPHINE & DAGGA
HARARE – A dramatic drugs case has rocked Zimbabwe’s First Family after Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika (22), the second wife of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s twin son, Collins Mnangagwa, appeared in court facing charges of unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs.
Prosecutors allege detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit acted on a tip-off before raiding her Greystone Park residence, where they reportedly recovered large quantities of pethidine, morphine and cannabis. Police also claim five rolls of dagga were discovered hidden inside the driver’s armrest of a white Lamborghini parked at the property.
The National Prosecuting Authority says the seized drugs, valued at US$204, were confiscated as evidence. Tafirenyika was remanded in custody until Thursday for a bail ruling after prosecutors indicated they would oppose her release.
The State argues investigations are ongoing and that police are still searching for the alleged supplier. Prosecutors further claim she presents a flight risk because some of the seized pethidine was allegedly intended for foreign markets, suggesting possible overseas connections. They also contend she could interfere with investigations or reconnect with the suspected supplier if granted bail.
The court is expected to decide whether she will remain behind bars as the high-profile case continues.
