Police confirm arrest of Chester, Felix, IDC
ZAMBIA Association of Musicians (ZAM) president Brian Bwembya, popularly known as B-Flow, says Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the arrest of musicians Moses Ng’andwe, popularly known as Chester MoPower, and gospel star, Felix Mangani Phiri, alias Felix Ndangeni Inshila, alongside MC and comedian Winston Ngosa, better known as IDC Light Comedy.
According to B-Flow, Chilabi confirmed that the three artists have been charged with Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of the Peace.
B-Flow explained that under Zambian law, the offence is bailable and is classified as a minor misdemeanor, which is typically handled at police station level through police bond or dealt with expeditiously by the courts through fines.
He said the Association therefore expects the three artists to be released no later than tomorrow.
B-Flow further noted that under the Constitution of Zambia, police are required to bring a detained suspect before a court within 24 hours where a court is available nearby, or within 48 hours where one is not.
He added that ZAM remains committed to cooperating with the Zambia Police Service and expressed confidence that the artists will be released to return to their families.
