🇹🇷 Erdoğan to Visit Saudi Arabia for High-Level Trilateral Summit on Regional Security
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to pay a one-day working visit to Saudi Arabia on Friday, where he will hold a trilateral meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, is also expected to accompany the Pakistani delegation, according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency.
The high-level meeting is expected to focus on regional security, maritime threats, the ongoing conflict involving Iran, and expanding defense cooperation among the three countries.
Officials are expected to discuss the rapidly evolving security environment across the Middle East, including the protection of strategic maritime routes and broader efforts to strengthen military and diplomatic coordination.
Focus on Maritime Security
The summit comes as Saudi Arabia is working to build a maritime security coalition aimed at safeguarding critical shipping lanes in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden amid continuing threats from Yemen’s Houthi movemen
Turkey and Pakistan are reported to be among the 14 countries that have expressed support for the initiative, reflecting growing regional efforts to enhance the security of vital international trade routes
Expanding Regional Cooperation
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, together with Egypt, are also strengthening cooperation under a framework referred to as the R-4 partnership. The initiative is intended to improve coordination on regional security, diplomacy, and the broader strategic implications of the conflict involving Iran.
Analysts view the emerging cooperation as an opportunity for Turkey to expand its influence in the Middle East, while providing Saudi Arabia and Pakistan with deeper security and defense collaboration during a period of heightened regional tensions

Relations between Ankara and Riyadh have strengthened significantly in recent years, particularly in the defense sector. Cooperation has expanded through agreements involving Baykar unmanned aerial systems, joint military technology development, and discussions surrounding Turkey’s fifth-generation KAAN fighter aircraft program.
