Zelenskyy and NATO Chief Discuss Ukraine’s Air Defense Interceptor Shortage
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held urgent discussions over Ukraine’s growing shortage of air-defense interceptors amid continued Russian missile and drone attacks.
The talks focused on coordinating with NATO allies that possess interceptor missiles, particularly ammunition for Patriot air-defense systems, and accelerating deliveries to Ukraine.
Kyiv is also seeking to reduce its reliance on U.S.-supplied Patriot interceptors by pursuing cooperation with partners to develop and produce its own interceptors capable of countering ballistic missiles.
The effort comes as Ukraine faces increasing pressure on its air-defense stockpiles while Russia continues conducting large-scale long-range strikes against targets across the country.
