If UPND were angels, they’re angels of the devil himself — Binwell Mpundu

TONSE Alliance presidential affairs chairman Binwell Mpundu has likened the United Party for National Development—UPND to fallen angels saying, if they were to be described as angels, then they would be “angels of the devil himself.”

Mpundu has questioned the UPND’s peace record.

In a video broadcast, Mpundu argued that while some citizens may have once viewed the ruling party as angelic in nature, there are different kinds of angels, including those who, according to belief, were cast out and aligned with darkness.

“Those of you who thought UPND are angels; well, we can agree to some extent that they could be angels. But there are categories of angels. There are those angels that serve God, and those angels that were cast down from Heaven, the friends of Lucifer.

“Me I want to believe that, if the UPND were angels, they’re angels of the devil himself,” Mpundu said.

Mpundu urged Zambians to critically assess the ruling party’s conduct in order to determine whether it has truly delivered peace and national unity as it claims.

“By now, people should be able to judge the true character of the UPND and decide whether they are capable of fostering peace and bringing the country together,” he said.

He further claimed that events observed in different parts of the country contradict the party’s message of harmony, suggesting that its public image does not match its actions.

“From what has been happening across the country, it is clear to see contradictions. They present themselves as peace builders, yet their actions tell a different story,” Mpundu said.

He also questioned how the party could continue to claim credit for peace while alleging that some of its supporters have been linked to acts of political violence.

“How can the same people claim to be champions of peace when, at the same time, there are reports of their supporters being involved in violent incidents, even attacking others with weapons?” he asked.

By broadcast time, the UPND had not respondent to Mpundu’s remarks.
