CHINA IS BUILDING A BACKDOOR TO EUROPE AND TURKEY IS THE DOOR

A significant portion of Chinese goods bound for West Asia, Africa, and Europe must cross the Strait of Malacca, the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal. Every chokepoint is a risk.

Extended transit distances raise transport costs and expose cargo to security crises, waterway blockades, and surging insurance rates. The Red Sea is already contested. The Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian control. The Suez Canal is vulnerable.

China has found another way.

Chinese goods can enter Iran via Central Asia. From there, they use Iran’s rail or road network to reach Turkish markets and Europe through the Turkish border. No Red Sea. No Suez. No Hormuz.

In another route, cargo enters Iran through its southern ports and moves overland to Iraq, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Iran becomes the bridge between China and the West.

This is not speculation. This is already happening. China and Iran signed a 25-year agreement in 2021 covering transport corridors. Iran’s railway network is being upgraded. Turkey is expanding its border crossings with Iran.

The Americans are sanctioning Iran. The Chinese are building roads through it. The Turks are opening their border to Chinese cargo.

While the US bombs Iran and the EU sanctions it, China is using Iran as its overland highway to Europe.
