IRAN’S MOJTABA KHAMENEI APPOINTS MOHSEN REZAEI AS NEW SNSC SECRETARY
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has appointed former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohsen Rezaei as the new Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
Rezaei replaces Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who has reportedly been moved to an advisory position.
The appointment brings a veteran IRGC commander back into one of Iran’s most important national-security posts, placing Rezaei at the center of Tehran’s strategic decision-making on national security, foreign policy and regional security issues.
The move comes as Iran continues to navigate heightened tensions with the United States, Israel and other regional actors.
