Lumelo Fumbelo’s viral video draws condemnation!
Some Zambians have expressed disappointment and concern following the circulation of a video appearing to show Grade 12 pupil Lumelo Fumbelo flogging and verbally confronting a fellow pupil in what appears to be a school dormitory.
In the video circulating on social media, Fumbelo is seen removing his shirt before flogging the other pupil while shouting and using abusive language.
The footage has drawn reactions from members of the public, with some expressing concern over what they describe as aggressive conduct that contrasts with the calm and articulate image Fumbelo has portrayed online.
Fumbelo, a Grade 12 pupil at David Kaunda National Technical High School in Lusaka, gained widespread attention on social media in mid-2026 after representing Zambia in a Pan-African cultural and academic student exchange programme in Ghana.
During the programme, Fumbelo attracted praise for showcasing Zambian culture, teaching his Ghanaian peers the Bemba language and engaging with them through humour and respectful cultural exchanges.
The emergence of the video has consequently prompted renewed debate online, with some members of the public questioning the apparent contrast between his public persona and the conduct depicted in the footage.
Police have not yet issued a statement regarding the video or the incident.
