NRPUP WIN PARLIAMENTARY SEAT IN KITWE, UPND TUMBLES
Opposition NRPUP has scooped the Kamfinsa Constituency seat in Kitwe.
Kelvin Chipili who stood on the NRPUP ticket has won the Kamfinsa Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2026 General Election defeating UPND candidate Subeta Mutelo in a closely contested two-horse race.
The victory marks a change in representation for Kamfinsa which had been represented by Christopher Kang’ombe during the 2021–2026 parliamentary term.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia had listed Chipili as the NRPUP candidate for Kamfinsa, with voting scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Zambians went to the polls on Thursday to elect the President, Members of Parliament, mayors/council chairpersons and councillors across the country.
Chipili’s victory gives NRPUP a parliamentary seat on the Copperbelt as opposition parties seek to make gains in the 2026 elections.
