INDEPENDENT ANITA KAMANGA RETIRES MASEBO, WINS CHONGWE EAST SEAT
Independent candidate Anita Kamanga, a former Chongwe Deputy Mayor has won the Chongwe Parliamentary seat defeating veteran politician Sylvia Masebo in the 2026 General Election.
Kamanga’s victory marks a major upset in Chongwe, as the former deputy mayor unseats Masebo, a long-serving figure in Zambian politics.
Her victory adds to the growing number of electoral upsets reported across the country following Thursday’s elections with independent candidates also making significant gains.
Zambians went to the polls on August 13, 2026, to elect the President, Members of Parliament, mayors, council chairpersons and councillors.
