Russian Su-35 Pilot Reportedly Shot Down Two Ukrainian Su-27s in Single Air Engagement

A Russian Su-35S fighter pilot reportedly shot down two Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets during a single aerial engagement, according to Russian commander Sergey Kobylash, deputy commander-in-chief of Russia’s Aerospace Forces.

According to Kobylash, the Su-35S was conducting a combat air patrol to protect Russian ground forces advancing in the area when it detected two Ukrainian Su-27s despite what he described as Ukrainian electronic jamming.

The Russian commander claimed the Ukrainian aircraft had a two-to-one numerical advantage, but said the Russian pilot managed to gain a tactical advantage through maneuvering before engaging both aircraft with onboard weapons.

If independently confirmed, the reported encounter would represent a notable example of the Su-35S being used in an air-superiority role during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

However, the claim comes from a Russian military source and has not been independently verified, while details of the alleged engagement remain limited.
