POLICE PICK UP TWO ELECTORAL OFFICERS OVER ALLEGED RESULTS SWAP

Police have picked up two electoral officers at Monze Boarding Secondary School, the totaling centre for Bweengwa Constituency, following the discovery of an alleged deliberate alteration of presidential election results.

The two officers are alleged to have entered votes meant for UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema under the name of ZMP presidential candidate Kelvin Bwalya.

The alleged irregularity was discovered while results from Choongo Secondary School Polling Station, Stream 01, were being verified at the totaling centre.

The matter has since attracted police attention, with the two electoral officers reportedly taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of results being transmitted and verified at constituency totaling centres as the Electoral Commission of Zambia continues the process of announcing the 2026 General Election results.

Authorities are expected to establish whether the alleged discrepancy was an administrative error or a deliberate attempt to alter the results.
