LILANDA CAMPAIGN TEAM URGES NKOMBO TO ACCEPT ELECTION DEFEAT

The campaign team of UPND Mazabuka Central parliamentary candidate Vincent Lilanda has urged former Member of Parliament Gary Nkombo to accept the election outcome and refrain from making what it describes as inflammatory claims.

According  to a statement issued on Friday, the team, through its Media Manager Reuben Hambulo, dismissed allegations by Nkombo that Lilanda and his campaign team interfered with the electoral process and intimidated his election agents.

Hambulo says neither Lilanda nor his campaign manager, Maxwell Mwiinga, visited Nega Nega or Lubombo polling stations as alleged.

He also rejected claims that members of the Lilanda campaign team brandished firearms and intimidated Nkombo’s media team and agents at Ndeke polling station, describing the allegations as false

The campaign team further accused Nkombo of provoking its members during voter turnout inspections at Ndeke and St. Patrick’s polling stations, but said its members exercised restraint

Hambulo has called on Nkombo to wait for the Electoral Commission of Zambia to complete the counting and verification process before making allegations of vote manipulation.

The Lilanda campaign team has meanwhile praised its supporters and voters for maintaining peace and respecting electoral rules and regulations.

It has urged all parties to remain calm and law-abiding as the electoral process continues, while calling on Mr. Nkombo to respect the outcome of the election.

  1. Garry concede defeat. It is a political game. Life continues, you’ve had your time in parliament and what else do you want anyway?
