BRIGHT HANAKAMBA WINS LIVINGSTONE MAYORAL ELECTION IN LANDSLIDE

UPND candidate Bright Hanakamba has won the Livingstone mayoral election by a landslide after securing 39,185 votes.
Mr Hanakamba was declared the duly elected Mayor of Livingstone by Returning Officer Sombo Kawilila at the Livingstone District Totalling Centre on Saturday.
NRPUP candidate George Imasiku polled 7,835 votes to finish second, while Independent candidate Benson Kayuma came third with 1,970 votes.
A total of 49,645 votes were cast in the mayoral election, with 646 ballot papers rejected as invalid.
Mr Hanakamba’s victory gives him a commanding majority, having secured more than five times the votes obtained by his closest rival.
The result also strengthens the UPND’s position in Livingstone, with the party securing the mayoral seat and all wards in Livingstone Central in the 2026 General Election.
The official declaration was made following the completion of the verification and totalling of results at the district totalling centre.
