Socialist Party Mourns Comrade Lovemore Chishiba and Demands Justice

The Socialist Party General Secretary, Dr Cosmas Musumali, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Comrade Lovemore Chishiba, aged 57, a Socialist Party polling agent who was attacked at Kasamba Polling Station in Matero Constituency on Election Day, 13 August 2026.
Dr Musumali said Comrade Chishiba was carrying out his lawful democratic duty of protecting the integrity of the electoral process when he was assaulted and later succumbed to his injuries. The Socialist Party extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow comrades.
The Socialist Party is calling for a full, transparent and impartial investigation into his death and for all those found responsible to face the law, regardless of their political affiliation.
Dr Musumali has further called on Socialist Party members and supporters to remain calm, disciplined and peaceful, saying that Comrade Chishiba’s memory must be honoured through a lawful pursuit of truth and justice.
