NRPUP’s Malozo Sichone grabs back Isoka seat from PF defected UPND candidate Marjorie Nakaponda

National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) Isoka Constituency Parliamentary candidate Malozo Sichone has reportedly grabbed back the Isoka seat from his fellow former Patriotic Front (PF) MP now UPND candidate Marjorie Nakaponda.

A check on his tenure during his PF days by the Zambian Business Times – ZBT revealed that Sichone entered Parliament in 2011 as Isoka MP on the PF ticket and held the seat for two terms until 2021, when he was succeeded by Nakaponda.

Another check indicated that Sichone also served as Provincial Minister for Eastern Province from November 2012 to May 2016 before becoming Provincial Minister for Muchinga Province from August 2016 to May 2021, serving under Presidents Michael Sata, Guy Scott (in an acting capacity), and Edgar Lungu.

However, in 2026, Sichone made his political comeback after being adopted by NRPUP, the party led by presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, to contest the Isoka seat in the August 13 General Elections.

Nakaponda, meanwhile, entered Parliament in 2021 on the PF ticket and succeeded Sichone before later defecting to the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in early 2026, alongside former PF MPs Sunday Chanda and Robert Chabinga.
