JONAS ZIMBA TRIES SUSPICIOUSLY LEAVE ZAMBIA VIA VICTORIA FALLS BOARDER WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF IMMIGRATION OFFICER.
LIVINGSTONE, August 17, 2026.— An immigration officer from Livingstone, identified as Masheke Masheke, attempted to help lawyer Jonas Zimba leave Zambia through the Victoria Falls Border into Zimbabwe in the early hours of Monday.
The incident happened between 01:00 and 02:00 hours when Masheke accompanied Zimba to the Victoria Falls Border and attempted to facilitate his departure from the country.
An immigration officer who was on duty checked Zimba’s passport and recognised him. The officer then approached Zimba to establish why he was attempting to leave the country.
However, when the immigration officer went to speak to him, Zimba reportedly drove away from the border and left the scene.
The immigration officer who had accompanied Zimba remained at the border and was subsequently taken into the hands of his superiors for questioning.
Zimba is a lawyer and also serves as an accredited official of the NRPUP at the National Results Centre in Lusaka, where he is representing the party during the ongoing electoral process.
The incident has drawn attention at the Victoria Falls Border as authorities establish the circumstances surrounding Zimba’s attempted departure and the involvement of the immigration officer.
