RESULTS ARE 100% ACCURATE WITH OUR MONITORS — TIZ

Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) says the presidential election results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) are in line with figures recorded by its election monitors at polling stations and totaling centres.

TI-Z says it has so far assessed 53 constituency presidential results out of the 105 announced by the ECZ, representing 96.9 percent of the results observed by its monitors during the counting process.

The organisation says its assessment has found a 100 percent match between the results officially announced by the ECZ and the figures collected independently by its monitors.

According to TI-Z, the findings are significant because they provide an independent comparison between the official results and information gathered directly from the ground.

The organisation says its monitors observed the counting and tallying processes at polling stations and totaling centres, recording results as they were generated.

“Results are 100 percent accurate with our monitors,” TI-Z says, highlighting the consistency between its independently collected figures and those announced by the electoral authority

The findings come at a time when the country is closely following the presidential election results, with political parties and their supporters scrutinising the figures being announced by the ECZ.

TI-Z’s assessment therefore provides an additional layer of verification, showing that, for the constituencies assessed so far, the official presidential results correspond with the figures captured by its monitors.

The organisation says it will continue assessing the remaining results as the electoral process progresses.

  1. Thank you TIZ for the interim report as we await your final report.

The independent assessment by accredited monitors will help clear the air in the midst of so much noise.

Other independent monitors should also let us know their findings at the close of the counting and tallying of votes, especially as relates to the accuracy of the reported results.
