SAD NEWS💔: POLICEWOMAN SHOT DEAD BY HUSBAND AFTER FAMILY CONFRONTATION
HARARE — A policewoman was shot dead by her husband on Sunday night after a family confrontation over rape allegations involving her teenage daughter, according to ZimLive.
Sergeant Portia Dzanwa, 36, of ZRP Hatfield Traffic, died at the scene after allegedly being shot by her husband, Pharaoh Dombodzvuku, 52.
Dombodzvuku was arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly attempting to take his own life with the same firearm. He survived and remains under armed guard in hospital.
According to an internal police memo seen by ZimLive, the drama began around 3pm, when the teenager raised the allegations with her mother.
Dzanwa confronted her husband and the family agreed to go to Southlea Park Police Station
But police said Dombodzvuku drove past the station and headed to his brother’s home in Hopley, saying he wanted to discuss the matter first.
The family arrived shortly after 9pm.
Dombodzvuku allegedly asked his brother to take the teenager inside while he remained in the vehicle with his wife.
Minutes later, the brother reportedly heard two gunshots and rushed outside.
He found the couple slumped in the front seats of the vehicle. Police said a CZ pistol was found on Dombodzvuku.
Dzanwa died at the scene.
Her husband was rushed to Sally Mugabe Hospital in critical condition, where he remains under armed guard.
Police investigations into the shocking incident are continuing.
