NKANDU CONGRATULATES HH ON SECOND-TERM VICTORY
UPND Kaputa Member of Parliament Elvis Nkandu has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his victory and renewed mandate to govern Zambia for a second term
Mr Nkandu said the President’s re-election was more than an electoral victory, describing it as a significant moment in Zambia’s political journey and a renewed mandate from the people.
“My heartfelt congratulations to the Republican President of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, on your resounding endorsement and victory for a second term,” Mr Nkandu said.
He said the victory had protected the economic foundation established by the administration over the past five years while reassuring communities that feared a return to political confrontation, intimidation and lawlessness.
According to Mr Nkandu, the election had demonstrated that Zambians wanted development and improved livelihoods, but also peace, stability and security in their communities.
“The message from the people has been clear: they want progress, but they also want peace,” he said.
Mr Nkandu, however, acknowledged that significant challenges remained, particularly the high cost of living facing ordinary citizens.
He said expectations for the second term were higher and government would need to work harder to meet them.
“The economic challenges, such the high cost of living, facing ordinary citizens remain real,” Mr Nkandu said.
He stressed that sustainable development could only be achieved in an environment where citizens felt safe and political differences were resolved peacefully.
“That is why this victory carries a responsibility beyond the numbers,” he said.
Mr Nkandu further said the renewed mandate carried an obligation to protect peace and safeguard national stability.
“It is a responsibility to protect the peace, and safeguard the stability of the nation,” he said.
He observed that some citizens had remained reluctant to openly express their political views during the campaign because they feared confrontation and intimidation.
“This victory must ultimately be a victory for Zambia for its economy, its communities, and its people,” Mr Nkandu said.
He congratulated President Hichilema once again, saying the renewed mandate had brought greater responsibility and that the work of governing the country must continue.
