Young woman raped at gunpoint and poisoned – father shoots alleged rapist dead
South Africa – A young woman named Andiswa Msibi was allegedly raped at gunpoint by the brother of her friend Zinhle, then forced to drink a poisoned soft drink.
According to the family, Andiswa contacted her friend Zinhle asking if she was home because she wanted to collect a charger.
Zinhle confirmed she was home and told her to come. When Andiswa arrived, she found Zinhle’s brother instead. He told her he would take her to Zinhle and led her into the house.
Once inside, Zinhle was not there. The man told Andiswa to sit and wait.
He then went to a wardrobe, took out a firearm, ordered her to undress and not to scream, and raped her. Afterwards he poured her a glass of Coke, forced her to drink all of it, and threatened to kill her if she told anyone what had happened.
When Andiswa returned home she broke down and told her family everything. Shortly afterwards she began vomiting blood and was rushed to hospital, where doctors discovered the drink had been poisoned.
Andiswa’s father and another relative then went to Zinhle’s home. While they were still speaking, the alleged perpetrator appeared. Andiswa’s father immediately shot him, and the man died at the scene. Police arrived and arrested the father.
The family is still asking where Zinhle was at the time of the attack and believes she may have been involved in luring Andiswa to the house.
Doctors are fighting to save Andiswa’s life. Her father, who acted to protect his daughter, is currently in police custody.
