ON BRIAN MUNDUBILE’S GUN STORY CLAIMS AT HIS RESIDENCE, WHY THE CHANGE.

So Brian Mundubile uploaded a video showing the public what he described as gunpowder residue (white) on his head, before reportedly asking his media handlers to send the video to Emmanuel Mwamba.

In the short video, he appeared to demonstrate to his media team that soldiers had put a gun to his head and fired, leaving what he described as gunpowder on his head.

He further stated that the bullet fired went on to hit his wife’s trousers and eventually struck Mr. Kafwaya.

But then comes the twist.

In his latest version of events, Mr. Mundubile appears to give a different account. He now says he was in the bedroom with his wife and Hon. Kafwaya, where he allegedly saw Kafwaya being shot twice before falling to the ground.

And this is where questions begin to emerge. At what point did the white gun powder find itself on his head? And also how come there was no blood on his head or cloths or just the floor?

If the first account is accurate, how did the Army allegedly hold him, place a gun against his head and fire, leaving residue on his head and then release him, allowing him to run to the bedroom where his wife and Hon. Kafwaya were, only for further gunshots to allegedly be fired?

Was there one shooting incident or more than one?

Was the alleged gun placed against his head inside the same room, or did that happen somewhere else?

And, perhaps most importantly, what exactly was the white substance shown on his head in the video?

These questions matter because the two accounts, as presented, appear difficult to reconcile without a clear timeline explaining what happened from the moment the alleged soldiers entered the residence to the moment Hon. Kafwaya was allegedly shot.

Then there is the gunpowder question.

Those people who have owned firearms before may tell you that gunpowder does not simply appear as a white substance on someone’s head. But the colour or appearance of a substance alone cannot establish whether it is gunshot residue. That requires proper forensic examination.

So the question becomes even bigger, What exactly was placed or left on Mr. Mundubile’s head, and can forensic experts establish where it came from?

Then another door opens.

Mr. Mundubile’s security team reportedly had firearms for protection. For a prominent public figure, armed security may not, by itself, be unusual or evidence of wrongdoing.

But what if, during a chaotic confrontation, members of the security team discharged their firearms?

What if a bullet fired during the confusion accidentally struck Mr. Kafwaya?

That is only a question at this stage, not an established fact.

Government has also indicated that weapons, including high-powered military-type weapons, were found during the raid.

So another question naturally follows:

Who was actually firing?

Was there an exchange of gunfire?

Were the alleged shots coming from one side only?

Or could there have been confusion inside the residence, with people moving, shouting and firing in the darkness and panic?

And then comes another scene in this unfolding story.

Why is it that Mr. Mundubile appears to be the person providing an account of the alleged shooting, while other people who were reportedly present have given a different description of what was happening?

Some have maintained that they were simply gathered for a meeting to discuss vote-counting issues.

If that is the case, then the public deserves to understand exactly what happened inside that room.

What was the meeting about?

Who was invited?

Who arrived?

Who was armed?

Who knew the meeting was taking place?

And what happened immediately before the alleged confrontation?

Then another question enters the picture.

How does Mr. Mundubile explain the presence of former military personnel among those reportedly found at the meeting?

Were they there as advisers?

Security?

Friends?

Or were they there for another reason?

What was the purpose of their presence?

And if there was nothing unusual about the gathering, why were people with military backgrounds reportedly present at such a sensitive meeting?

These are not conclusions, they are questions.

Questions that Zambians deserve to see answered through evidence, not speculation.

Because somewhere inside this story is a timeline.

There is a beginning.

There is a moment when the alleged confrontation started.

There is a moment when the first shot was allegedly fired.

There is a moment when Hon. Kafwaya was allegedly hit.

There is a moment when the people inside the residence reacted.

And there is a moment when the security operation ended.

Put all those moments together, and the picture should become clear.

But if one part of the story says a gun was placed against Mr. Mundubile’s head and fired, while another version places him in a bedroom witnessing Hon. Kafwaya being shot, then the public naturally wants to know what happened in between.

That missing piece may be the most important part of the entire story.

We just want Zambians to think through this story carefully before Government gives its version in full.

And when Government eventually presents its account, it should be based on evidence, forensic reports, ballistic findings, witness statements, medical evidence, photographs, recovered firearms and a clear reconstruction of what happened.

Government should also ensure that anyone accused of involvement is given the proper legal process to explain their side.

The full intentions, the alleged plan, the people involved and whoever may have been behind it should be established through a lawful investigation and tested against evidence.

Because in a story this serious, the truth should not depend on which version is louder.

It should depend on which version the evidence can prove.

And until all the pieces are placed on the table, one question remains hanging in the air:

What really happened inside that residence?
