MOTOTWE KAFWAYA KILLED IN THE EXCHANGE OF FIRE WITH AUTHORITIES.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Mutotwe Kafwaya has taken a chilling turn after Police Inspector General of Police confirmed that he was the unidentified man who was fatally wounded during an intelligence led joint operation in Kabulonga, Lusaka, on August 14, 2026.

For days, the identity of the man who died during the operation remained unknown.

The deceased has been positively identified by his family as Mutotwe Kafwaya, who had earlier been reported missing.

According to the Central Joint Operations Committee, the deadly operation was launched after intelligence gathered by security agencies following the recovery of K7.3 million during a separate task force operation in Lusaka.

What followed was a major security operation involving several Defence and Security Wings, including the Drug Enforcement Commission.

Eleven people were apprehended during the operation and are currently being held as investigations continue into alleged offences relating to treason, alongside other offences that may emerge as investigators dig deeper into the case.

But what was found inside the premises has added another disturbing layer to the investigation.

Security agencies say they recovered several firearms, ammunition, tactical equipment and electronic devices during the operation.

The items have since been subjected to forensic examination as investigators attempt to piece together what happened before, during and after the Kabulonga operation.

With one man now identified, eleven suspects in custody and a trail of money, weapons and electronic evidence under investigation, authorities say the wider picture is still unfolding.

For the family of Kafwaya, however, the confirmation has brought a devastating answer to a question that had haunted them since his disappearance.

The man they had been searching for is now confirmed dead.

And the circumstances surrounding his final hours remain at the centre of a rapidly deepening security investigation.
