Netanyahu Explains Israeli Strikes on Syria, Citing Security Breaches and Turkish Military Presence
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sought to explain the reasons behind Israel’s recent military strikes in Syria, saying they were driven by security concerns and alleged violations of understandings between Israel and the new Syrian government..
According to Netanyahu, Israel and Syria had established security arrangements designed to maintain the existing status quo and prevent actions that could threaten either side. He said, however, that the Syrian government had breached those understandings despite receiving repeated warnings from Israel.
