Police reportedly recover automatic uzis, ak-47s and tactical equipment in Kabulonga operation

INSPECTOR General of Police Graphael Musamba says the Joint Task Force has recovered an assortment of firearms, ammunition, tactical equipment and electronic devices during a search of premises in Kabulonga, that left former Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya dead.

Musamba says the recovered items include restricted military-version automatic Uzi weapons, five AK-47 rifles with 60 rounds of ammunition and one Zastava pistol.

He says the Joint Task Force also recovered four Beretta magazines, a bulletproof vest, a commando dagger and firearm maintenance equipment, including gun-cleaning rods, gun oil and cleaning kits.

Among the tactical and security equipment recovered were military-version binoculars with night-vision capability and BAK-4 prisms, four pairs of tactical gloves, two black Taser-type devices and three Baofeng walkie-talkies, together with a charger.

He further says the team further recovered a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and a video splitter.

Musamba says a number of electronic and ICT devices were also seized and have been secured for forensic examination in accordance with the law.

He says any documents, records, communications or other digital material obtained from the devices will form part of the ongoing investigations.

The Inspector General said all recovered items have been secured and are being subjected to further examination as investigations continue.
