ZIMBA DENIES LEAKING INFORMATION LINKED TO KAFWAYA’S DE•ATH
Tonse Alliance Secretary General Dr Chris Zumani Zimba has dismissed allegations that he leaked information to State authorities about the whereabouts of alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile before a gunfire incident in which former Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya was ki•lled.

Dr Zimba said he was deeply hurt by claims circulating among some PF Pamodzi diaspora bloggers, describing them as politically motivated and malicious.
“My heart bleeds with such inhuman malice, rehearsed enmity and political hatred towards me,” Dr Zimba said.

He said he and Kafwaya had been close friends and political allies since 2016, adding that the late lawmaker was also a brother in Christ.
“I had a cherished brother in politics and Christ in him,” he said.

Dr Zimba explained that on the evening of the incident, he was at Parliament House with Mr Mundubile’s sons and nephews and had no knowledge of where Mr Mundubile, Kafwaya and others were.
“We all had no idea where BM, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya and the team were,” he said.

According to Dr Zimba, his secretariat team had earlier been instructed by Mr Mundubile to ensure polling agents and monitors countrywide had physical proof of G20 form

He questioned why he was being accused of providing information to the State and called for sensitivity towards Kafwaya’s family as the country mourns.
“What is the motive? Is there anything we need to know as Tonse Alliance?” he asked.

Dr Zimba also defended his political record, saying his 2021 advice to former President Edgar Lungu to peacefully hand over power was aimed at preserving peace and national unity.

He said his recent call for dialogue and reconciliation between President Hakainde Hichilema and Mr Mundubile should not be construed as betrayal.
“Nothing will change that,” Dr Zimba said, insisting that his political positions were guided by facts and the national interest.

He paid tribute to Hon Kafwaya, describing him as a cherished brother and friend.
“May the Soul of Comrade and Brother, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya rest in eternal peace,” Dr Zimba said

About Hon Mutotwe Kafwaya’s Death: My Cherished Brother

Zumani Zimba wrote;

Last night, I read some PF Pamodzi diaspora bloggers gossiping that I leaked information to the state about the whereabouts of BM where gunshots were exchanged and my good brother and friend, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya lost his life.

My heart bleeds with such inhuman malice, rehearsed enmity and political hatred towards me by the same folks in PF who fought me when l started Tonse Alliance during ECL and later made BM our assured 2026 presidential candidate on the NRPUP ticket. Merely because I have opposed their selfish agenda, they always perceive me their number one enemy.

To start with, it breaks my heart to finally hear that our good brother is gone so soon. Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya and I were very close brothers since 2016. The last Sunday before elections, him and I arranged for BM and MZ to attend a service at his church, Tabernacle of David. So, I had a cherished brother in politics and Christ in him.

When everything was happening where boss was that evening, I was so unaware because I was with BM’s sons and nephews at their Parliament House. We all had no idea where BM, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya and the team where. My secretariate team and I had earlier been instructed by boss to ensure our polling agents and monitors had physical proof of G20 forms countrywide.

So, where is this inhumane malice against me coming from? What is the motive? Is there anything we need to know as Tonse Alliance? As we mourn our brother and friend in Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya, let’s be sensitive to the feelings of his family and us as his close friends. Tonse Alliance belongs to us and no one will grab or take it manipulatively from BM.

When ECL lost power in 2021, yes, I advised him to peacefully hand over to HH and move on as former President in order to preserve peace and national unity. He liked the idea and was happy with it. This was not betrayal to ECL hence l remained ECL’s cherished and close political advisor until death last year.

Now that elections for 2026 are over and l have called for political dialogue, peace and reconciliation between HH and BM, how can that be treated as betrayal to BM?

Look, I am a grounded Political Scientist at the highest level and speak these issues based on scientific facts and the nation at heart. Nothing will change that.

May the Soul of Comrade and Brother, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya rest in eternal peace. We will always love and cherish you!
