Russian Warship Spotted Near German Island Amid Rising Baltic Tensions

German media report that the Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov, one of the Russian Navy’s most modern warships, has been spotted near Germany’s Fehmarn Island in the Baltic Sea.

The vessel is equipped with cruise missiles and Zircon hypersonic missiles, which Russia says can carry nuclear warheads. The deployment comes amid heightened tensions between Moscow and European countries.

The Admiral Kasatonov was also observed alongside the Russian tanker Portovyy while leaving the Baltic through the Fehmarn Strait. Weeks earlier, the Russian destroyer Admiral Levchenko was also deployed to the region.

The increased Russian naval activity comes as tensions between Russia and NATO remain high, with Moscow warning of retaliation if Russian-linked vessels are seized by European states.
