NIGER SETS RENTAL PRICES AND PROPERTY OWNERS ARE NOT HAPPY

The Nigerien government has signed a decree regulating rental prices across the country. The move targets real estate speculation and aims to protect tenants from excessive rent hikes.

The price list is clear.

In residential areas, F2 high-standing flats are capped at 30,000 to 40,000 CFA francs. F3 high-standing units range from 60,000 to 80,000 CFA francs.

In traditional zones, F2 units are set between 15,000 and 35,000 CFA francs. F3 units are capped between 40,000 and 60,000 CFA francs.

Landlords who charge above the set limits face up to thirty days in prison.
