THE SYSTEM WAS NOT BLIND TO THE THREAT.

One thing Zambians should understand is that the location in question was allegedly not Mundubile’s ordinary home, but a safe house. There were reportedly several such locations, and the Kabulonga property was being used on that particular day.
What makes the matter even more serious are claims that the property had specialised features, including concealed areas and bunkers designed for hiding or protection.
The security system cannot simply be dismissed as foolish or incompetent. If credible intelligence indicated that a significant meeting was taking place at a particular location, there would be a reason for a security operation to be mounted.
And let us not underestimate what it means when three ex-commandos are reportedly attending the same meeting at one location. That is not an ordinary gathering. It raises legitimate security questions that deserve serious investigation rather than political speculation.
We should therefore thank and support the security institutions for doing their constitutional duty of good protecting the country and its citizens.
Security work is intelligence-driven. Not everything known to the public is everything known to the system.
Let the evidence speak. Let investigations establish the facts. But we should never mistake professional security operations for foolishness simply because we do not have access to all the intelligence behind them.
