ONLY THE POOR WILL SUFFER MOST IF PEACE COLLAPSES, ZULU WARNS

Former Lumezi Member of Parliament Munir Zulu has urged Zambians to remain calm and peaceful amid heightened political tensions.

Mr. Zulu said continued confrontations could have serious consequences, warning that ordinary citizens, particularly the poor and marginalised, would suffer most if peace collapsed.

“Preaching peace in moments like this, when our country is boiling, is not a sign of weakness,” Mr. Zulu said.

He urged citizens who were unable to contain their anger to avoid venting their frustrations on other people, particularly through social media platforms.

Mr. Zulu stressed that Zambia belonged to all citizens and called for the national interest to take precedence over political or personal interests.

“This country belongs to all of us and a moment of putting its interest first must be respected,” he said.

He also warned the ruling class against assuming it would be insulated from the consequences of instability.

“Sanctions will only hit the poor more than the privileged few,” Mr. Zulu said.

He urged Zambians to keep calm, trust the process and allow the leadership to communicate when necessary.

  1. I agree with Munir 100%. Let Peace overflow in our land. The Rich always jump out of the “Boiler” when it gets hot but the Poor get “roasted and barbequed” with their feathers on and hooves intact.
