PUTIN AND AL-SHARAA DISCUSS RUSSIA-SYRIA RELATIONS, MILITARY BASES DEAL
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa have held discussions on the future of relations between Moscow and Damascus, including negotiations over Russia’s military presence and bases in Syria.
The talks reportedly focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and reaching an agreement on the status of Russian military facilities in the country, as both sides seek to redefine their strategic relationship amid Syria’s changing political landscape.
Russia’s long-term military presence in Syria including its key Tartus naval facility and Hmeimim air base remains a central issue in negotiations between Moscow and the new Syrian authorities.
