BINWELL APPEALS TO HICHILEMA TO RELEASE HIS COMRADES
OUTSPOKEN former Nkana MP and Tonse Pamodzi Alliance supporter Binwell Mpundu has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to intervene and ensure the release or medical treatment of hundreds of detained opposition supporters.
Mpundu described the situation as “Pharaoh, let my people go,” while calling for prayers for President Edgar Lungu’s son in-law Patrick Mwansa, who he claims is being held at Lusaka Central Police Station on a treason charge and is in critically poor health.
He alleged that Mwansa was badly beaten and suffered broken limbs, adding that police officers are allegedly preventing people from visiting him or accessing medical treatment.
Mpundu further claimed that more than 50 Mundubile supporters are detained at Chelston Police Station, over 40 at Kabwata Police Station and more than 30 at Matero Police Station.
He has appealed to supporters who can afford it to provide detained individuals with basic supplies, including bread, water, drinks, toothpaste and bathing soap.
Mpundu also urged people close to President Hichilema to convey his appeal for authorities to allow Mwansa to receive medical attention.
