Mundubile and Makebi, surrendered to the Police, Currently Being Interrogated at Command Centre
The United Nations has surrendered leading presidential candidate in the just ended general elections, Brian Mundubile and his Running Mate, Makebi Zulu to Zambia Police Officers.
Under the Terms of the Agreement of the talks between United Nations Secretary General’s representative and President Hakainde Hichilema, of their release, the State pledged that they will be subjected to the rule of law and the due process of the law.
They are currently under interrogation at Law Enforcement Agencies Command Centre near civic centre.
Following the military raid at Mundubile’s home in Kabulonga, which saw the killing of former Cabinet Minister of Transport and Communications, Mutotwe Kafwaya, President Hichilema accused his main challenger of allegedly forming or harbouring a militia, with intent to overthrow the government.
Fearing for their lives, the duo sought shelter at the United Nations Buildings located on Alick Nkhata road where they have been until now.
Senior members of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance led by Bishop Trevor Mwamba and former law-maker, George Chisanga have been charged with treason.
Details later.
