South Africa 🇿🇦 has borrowed about R7.4 billion from the BRICS New Development Bank. About R3.6 billion will be used to build a new 488-bed hospital in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The hospital will provide specialised treatment for serious illnesses and will also be used to train doctors and other healthcare workers.

Another R3.8 billion will go towards improving the Magalies Bulk Water Supply Scheme. This project will help six municipalities in Limpopo and North West get a more reliable supply of water.

Around 2 million people are expected to benefit because these areas already have problems where the demand for water is higher than the available supply.
