LAVROV SAYS UNIPOLAR WORLD IS DEAD AND AFRICA IS WAKING UP cc
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has declared that the world is undergoing profound changes. He said a multipolar world is now a reality.
He dismissed the Western liberal model as the sole and dominant model across the planet. He said Francis Fukuyama’s end of history theory reflected Western dreams. Those dreams are over.
Lavrov revealed that Vladimir Putin once asked Bill Clinton to let Russia join NATO. Clinton grunted and said his people told him it would not work. The West wanted to keep Russia close. But not as an equal partner..
The turning point was Putin’s Munich speech in 2007. Russia finally realised the West would never engage in equal cooperation.
Lavrov said giants like China, India and Brazil are asserting themselves. Africa is moving away from the neocolonial model. The continent is no longer just a source of raw materials for Europe.
He said Russia has learned its lessons. Relations with the West will never again be what they were before February 2022.
Trump has begun to look at root causes. But Russia appreciates the shift while acknowledging reservations.
The unipolar moment is over. The West is no longer the only table in town.
If the West refused Russia as an equal partner, why should Russia trust it now. And if Africa is finally waking up, who will fill the space left by the colonial powers.
