PRESIDENT HICHILEMA A GREAT DEFENDER OF DEMOCRACY

President Hakainde Hichilema is indeed a great defender of Democracy and Human Rights as evidenced by the expanded democratic space during his first five- year term in office.
However, it’s worth noting that democracy thrives on the rule of law.
Further, democracy doesn’t mean suspending security agencies’ mandate to maintain law and order as President Hichilema’s critics purport.
President Hichilema, who will soon be sworn-in as Eighth Republican President after the Zambian people overwhelmingly gave him the mandate to govern for his second five-year term, will once again re-affirm his commitment to defend and protect the Republican Constitution as was the case during his first five-year term.
In view of these facts, we advise citizens to exercise their freedoms, including the freedom of speech and opinion with due respect for other people’s rights with utmost sense of responsibility.
