“Desist From Protests”: Vote Zambia Warns Against Disrupting Hichilema’s 1st September Inauguration

Civic organization Vote Zambia has called on individuals from alleged opposition political parties who are reportedly trying to incite cadres to protest President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration on 1st September 2026 to desist and refrain from such activities.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka, Vote Zambia President Stembridge Mwangala* said those planning protests should heed the call by Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba not to go on the streets and make noise.
“The inauguration will go ahead and the President will continue as Head of State and Government of the Republic of Zambia,” Mwangala stated.
Mwangala warned that Vote Zambia is capable of organizing month-long countrywide solidarity marches in response to any attempts to disrupt the inauguration.
He further pledged the organization’s commitment to work with President Hakainde Hichilema in fostering development across the country.
Mwangala highlighted that according to Vote Zambia’s Voter Intelligence Poll, VIP system, President Hakainde Hichilema won the 2026 general elections by a landslide. He therefore advised all losing candidates to accept defeat and move on with life.
