CHIINDA EXPLAINS WHY HE WON’T PETITION MUNALI RESULTS, ALLEGES VIO•LENCE AND IRREGULARITIES
MUNALI parliamentary candidate Chrispin Chiinda says he has decided not to petition the August 13, 2026 election results despite alleging voter intimidation, vio•lence and irregularities in the handling of Gen 20 forms.
In a statement, Chiinda said his decision not to challenge the results in court did not mean that concerns surrounding the election should be ignored.
“My decision remains consistent for not petitioning the results but it’s important to speak to what happened in Munali on the 13th August, 2026,” he said.
Chiinda alleged that masked cadres in a white canter vehicle atta•cked voters at several polling stations in the early hours of voting day.
He said the alleged atta•cks occurred at Chitukuko Polling Station, Mtendere Pre-School and Kaunda Square Stage Two Community Hall, leaving some voters injured.
“Some of our voters were bea•ten and were attended to at Mtendere clinic,” Chiinda said.
He alleged that the violence was deliberately intended to discourage people from voting.
“It is my submission to the court of public opinion that this was deliberately aimed at causing apathy,” he said.
Chiinda also questioned the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s handling of more than 27 allegedly missing Gen 20 forms at the Munali Secondary School totalling centre.
“Gen 20 forms cannot go missing as claimed by ECZ at totalling centre,” he said.
He argued that the alleged irregularities could have been addressed through a physical recount of parliamentary ballot papers.
“To cure this we would have asked the order of the court for a physical recount of the ballot papers for parliamentary vote,” he said.
Chiinda, however, said he had chosen not to petition because of political developments involving parties that had withdrawn from the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance and endorsed the UPND.
“RP and NRPUP has withdrawn from the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance they have since endorsed UPND, in an event that the petition succeeds which parties should we use, therefore I decided to leave it there.”
He further said the country’s political environment required healing and reconciliation.
“Our politics is in dire need of healing and reconciliation,” said Chiinda. “You are the judges, you can decide.”

- VIOLENCE TO INTIMIDATE VOTERS – In the early hours of Thursday 13th August 2026 around 04 in the morning, voters started lining up in readiness to cast their vote, one in particularly in Chitukuko Polling station a known white canter with masked cadres appeared to chase up voters who stood up in the queues, others were beaten and most of them ran for safety in the nearby UCZ church. Some of our voters were beaten and were attended to at Mtendere clinic.
After this fracas these cadres left with their vehicles and next was Mtendere pre-school that reported similar incident with the same white canter with masked men. After leaving Mtendere pre-school it was again in kaunda square stage 2 community hall where a young voter was beaten and injured, he was rushed to Levy where he was attended to. This violence was reported in many other polling stations in Munali
It is my submission to the court of public opinion that this was deliberately aimed at causing apathy as ruling parties believe that when there is apathy it means no change of Govt. Voters call each other and when they were attacked its possible they never came back and those contacted by phone by their colleagues never made an effort to go and vote possibly.
In all this people captured pictures and clips were taken, scars left on the victims are visible and were ready to testify in court.
- ELECTORAL COMMISION CLAIMED MORE THAN 27 GEN 20 FORMS WERE MISSING AND SUSPENDED ANNOUNCING VERIFIED RESULTS AT MUNALI SECONDARY SCHOOL A TOTALLING CENTRE
This brought distortion in the results, 27 gen 20 forms meant the results for the entire ward, for example Chakunkula has 31 polling streams with 29,000 registered votes and Chainda has 23 streams with over 18,000 registered votes, ECZ asked for gen 20 forms to be furnished to them in the process we found this gen20 form attached marked 3 with no details of the polling station and presiding officer, the signing is also not in order, we do not know how many of such were admitted to ECZ. Check the gen 20 form marked 2 thats the normal gen 20 form with proper signatures.
It is my submission to the court of public opinion that Gen 20 forms cannot go missing as claimed by ECZ at totalling centre, every presiding officer from all the 166 polling streams presented them after counting was done, this handling was highly irregular and without resolving this matter ECZ went on to announce the results and declared the winner
To cure this we would have asked the order of the court for a physical recount of the ballot papers for parliamentary vote.
Munali has 146, 000 registered votes and only 69,000 votes were cast representing less than 50% voted
MY REASONING FOR NOT PETITIONING
- RP and NRPUP has withdrawn from the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance they have since endorsed UPND, in an event that the petition succeeds which parties should we use, therefore I decided to leave it there.
- Our politics is in dire need of healing and reconciliation, currently the environment is toxic, others must sacrifice and sit down with others for the innocent citizens.
