HICHILEMA THE BEST FOR EVERYONE RIGHT NOW SAYS LAURA MITI.
Good Governance activist Laura Miti has declared that President Hakainde Hichilema remains the best choice for Zambia, despite acknowledging shortcomings in his first term.
Ms. Miti says she is happy that President Hichilema will be inaugurated tomorrow, arguing that, after considering the alternatives presented in the recently concluded election, she does not see any candidate who would have been a better choice for the country.
Writing on her social media page, Ms. Miti said her position should not be interpreted as a declaration that President Hichilema has been flawless.
“I am happy that President Hichilema is being inaugurated tomorrow. Largely, that is because no matter how I turn it in my head, I can’t see how any of the individuals who contested the last election would be a better choice.”
She stressed that her support is based on a comparison of the available choices rather than an unconditional endorsement of the President’s performance.
“That’s not to say HH is wonderful. It is to say he is the best we have,” she stated.
Ms. Miti further argued that President Hichilema’s competitors did not present a stronger alternative when it came to managing the country’s economy.
She said she has confidence in President Hichilema’s ability to manage Zambia’s economy and lead the country as a going concern.
“On the economy, those candidates, put together, are not half HH. Simply, I have every faith in HH, as Manager of the going concern called Zambia,” she stated.
However, Ms. Miti’s endorsement comes with a clear expectation that President Hichilema must do better in his second term, particularly in the area of governance, where she says his administration has disappointed.
She has therefore urged the President to use his second term to deliver stronger governance while ensuring that Zambia makes progress economically, politically and socially.

Point is, every person on the ballot paper that could possibly have been an alternative – not counting the zero club – would either be his equal or worse in leaving the democracy gods dizzy.
On the economy, those candidates, put together, are not half HH.
Simply, I have every faith in HH, as Manager of the going concern called Zambia.
Governance, is where he dissapointed. I can only hope he has a much better term .
Mr President, may our dear Zambia thrive in your second term – economically, politically, socially and spiritually.

Very true, I also have disagreements on the president but currently there is no alternative. A leading contender can display so much economic ignorance as to say reserves are useless and inflation figures are useless? Even with my zero knowledge of economics i know that low inflation is helping me by keeping prices from going up. More importantly, no programme on how exactly to raise money except to say school pupils will find books and uniforms at school, from where Mr. blank head?
