RUTO CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT HICHILEMA, PLEDGES STRONGER ZAMBIA-KENYA TIES
KENYAN President William Ruto has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election, saying the renewed mandate was a strong expression of the confidence Zambians had placed in his leadership and vision for the country.
And President Ruto says Kenya is looking forward to deepening bilateral relations with Zambia through increased trade, investment and the advancement of shared interests.
In a message following President Hichilema’s inauguration for a second term at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium earlier today, President Ruto wished the Zambian Head of State success as he embarked on another five years of service.
“Congratulations, my brother President Hakainde Hichilema, as you embark on a second term of service to the people of Zambia,” President Ruto said.
“Wishing you, your administration and the people of Zambia every success as you work to translate this renewed mandate into greater prosperity and opportunity for every Zambian.”
President Ruto said President Hichilema’s re-election reflected the confidence that Zambians had in his leadership and transformation agenda.
“Your re-election is a strong expression of the confidence the people of Zambia have placed in your leadership and vision for the country’s transformation,” he said.
The Kenyan leader said his country remained committed to strengthening cooperation with Zambia.
“Kenya looks forward to deepening our bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, and advancing our shared interests,” said President Ruto.
He further called for greater African integration, saying the African Continental Free Trade Area presented an opportunity for the continent to create jobs and build prosperity.
“Together, we will continue working for a more integrated and prosperous Africa,” said President Ruto.
President Ruto was among several regional leaders who attended the inauguration ceremony.
