NALUMANGO PLEDGES TO SERVE ALL ZAMBIANS AS NEW TERM BEGINS
Vice-President Mutale Nalumango says the UPND government will work to justify the confidence Zambians have placed in President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration following their renewed mandate.
Nalumango said the government recognised that the mandate given to it by the people was a sacred responsibility that required humility, commitment and determination.
“With a heart filled with humility and gratitude, I wish to sincerely thank the people of Zambia for the confidence, trust and renewed mandate you have entrusted to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema and myself,” she said.
Speaking as the government commenced the 2026–2031 term, Nalumango said the administration was conscious that the mandate belonged to the Zambian people.
“This mandate belongs to the Zambian people. It is a sacred responsibility that we accept with humility, commitment and determination,” she said.
She thanked all citizens who participated in the electoral process, regardless of whom they voted for, saying their participation demonstrated the strength of the country’s democracy.
“Your participation has demonstrated the strength of our democracy and your desire to see our country continue on the path of peace, unity and development,” Nalumango said.
The Vice-President also thanked UPND supporters across the country for their continued confidence in the New Dawn government.
“Your encouragement, sacrifices and belief in our vision have been a source of strength throughout this journey,” she said.
Nalumango pledged that the government would work tirelessly to ensure development reached all parts of the country.
“We will work tirelessly to justify your confidence and to ensure that the benefits of national development reach every province, district, community and household,” she said.
She further pledged to serve all Zambians without discrimination, saying her responsibility as Vice-President extended beyond those who supported the governing party.
“My duty is not only to those who supported us, but to the entire nation,” said Nalumango.
She urged citizens to put the election behind them and unite around the task of creating opportunities for young people, strengthening the economy and improving livelihoods.
“There is much to be done, and our collective efforts are needed to create greater opportunities for our young people, strengthen our economy, improve livelihoods and leave a better Zambia for future generations,” she said.
