Iran Launches New Ballistic Missile Strike on U.S. Marine Base in Jordan
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has launched a heavy ballistic missile attack against Camp Titin, a U.S. Marine base located near the Gulf of Aqaba in southern Jordan.
The IRGC said the strike was carried out in retaliation for a new wave of U.S. attacks on southern Iran, including the Kuhestak area in Hormozgan Province. Iranian authorities said the U.S. strikes hit a civilian residence during a wedding ceremony, causing civilian casualties.
Iran claimed the Camp Titin strike killed a number of U.S. personnel and damaged several military facilities and attack helicopters. The claims have not been independently verified, and the U.S. military has not confirmed the reported casualties or extent of damage.
Jordanian authorities said their air-defence systems intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles entering Jordanian airspace, with the latest reports putting the number at 10 intercepted out of 13 launched.
The latest attack marks another escalation in the rapidly expanding U.S.-Iran confrontation, with Tehran warning that further American strikes on Iranian territory will trigger additional retaliation against U.S. military positions across the region. :::
