SADC CHAIRPERSON PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA MISSES HH’S INAUGURATION CEREMONY
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was notably absent from the inauguration of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, held today at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The absence has attracted public attention, particularly given the longstanding bilateral relations between Zambia and South Africa.
South Africa had previously offered to help mediate the impasse between the Zambian Government and the family of late former President Edgar Lungu over his burial arrangements. Lungu’s remains remain in South Africa as discussions over his burial were ended by a South African court.
Meanwhile, Presidents from Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia and Zimbabwe attended Hichilema’s inauguration, alongside other regional and international dignitaries.
Ramaphosa’s absence has since sparked debate among members of the public, with questions being raised about the reasons behind his decision not to attend.

We care less whether he attended or not. He has a lot on his hands – Phala Phala.
