DR Congo Strengthens Cooperation with Israel Amid Middle East Conflict
Already a partner of the United States, the Democratic Republic of Congo is officially deepening its cooperation with Israel amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi made the remarks during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, saying Kinshasa aims to build a “modern, pragmatic and mutually beneficial partnership” with Israel.
“Our ambition is to build with Israel a modern, pragmatic and mutually beneficial partnership, measured not only by the agreements we sign, but by their implementation and the results they deliver for our two peoples,” Tshisekedi said.
Netanyahu praised the relationship between the two countries, declaring: “It is a great friendship that we will deepen even further.”
The meeting signals a further strengthening of diplomatic ties between Kinshasa and Jerusalem at a time of heightened tensions and conflict across the Middle East.
