KABBA CALLS FOR NATIONAL HEALING, UNITY AFTER 2026 ELECTIONS

SEP-03-2026

UPND MP-elect for Maramba Constituency Yvonne Kabba has called for national healing, unity and reconciliation following the conclusion of the 2026 general elections and the swearing-in of President Hakainde Hichilema.

Ms Kabba says the conclusion of the electoral process provides Zambia with an opportunity to move beyond political contestation and redirect its collective energy towards national development and improving the lives of citizens.

She has commended Zambians for participating in the democratic process, regardless of their political affiliations or preferred candidates, saying the strength of the country lies in its ability to remain united despite differences in political opinion.

Ms Kabba has cautioned against allowing political competition to fuel tribal hatred, hostility and lasting divisions among citizens, stressing that political differences should not overshadow the common interests that bind Zambians together.

According to Ms Kabba, the outcome of an election should mark the beginning of a new chapter in which citizens put aside campaign rivalries, embrace one another and work towards rebuilding relationships affected by political differences.

She has further urged Zambians to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation while shifting their attention to issues that directly affect the country’s future, particularly economic development, community welfare and opportunities for the younger generation.

Ms Kabba says Zambia now needs citizens who are prepared to work together rather than deepen divisions, describing unity, peace and hard work as essential ingredients for building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

The Maramba MP-elect has consequently urged Zambians to close the chapter on the 2026 electoral contest and collectively look ahead, emphasising that while elections come and go, Zambia remains the shared home and common destiny of all its citizens.
