Iran Claims U.S. Aircraft Carrier and Destroyer Fled After Being Hit
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims that Iranian forces struck a U.S. aircraft carrier and a destroyer for the first time, alleging that both American warships sustained damage and subsequently withdrew from the area.
According to the IRGC, the two vessels “fled the area after suffering damage and fearing another attack.” Tehran presented the claim as a major escalation and a demonstration of Iran’s ability to threaten U.S. naval forces in the region.
The alleged strikes have not been independently verified, and there has been no confirmed U.S. acknowledgment that an American aircraft carrier or destroyer was damaged or forced to withdraw.
If confirmed, such an incident would represent a significant escalation in the confrontation between Iran and the United States, particularly given the strategic importance of U.S. carrier strike groups and naval forces operating in the region.
