PUTIN MEETS TRUMP ENVOYS IN BID TO REVIVE UKRAINE PEACE TALKS
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, at the Kremlin on Saturday to discuss a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
The talks reportedly lasted around three hours and come as Washington seeks to revive negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine separately announced a three-day suspension of strikes against each other’s capitals, marking a temporary reduction in hostilities amid renewed diplomatic efforts.
Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday to continue discussions with Ukrainian officials. Despite the latest diplomatic initiative, several major issues remain unresolved, particularly territorial disputes and the conditions for a potential peace agreement.
The meetings underline a renewed push by the Trump administration to bring Moscow and Kyiv back toward negotiations, but significant obstacles remain before any deal to end the war can be reached.
